Sun Wind Fire and Rain Project

100%
Fossil Fuel Free

What will it take to make your life, your town, your city, your country fossil fuel free? And let’s think really biggest. Let’s include uranium in the fossil fuels list. This means all energy needs must come from renewable resources. Is it possible? Can we do it? Should we do it? Let’s work together and figure it out. In the next 20 weeks, not 20 years.

This project uses the Meetup web app to help pull people together. We are starting the Chattanooga metropolitan area. We are blessed with a really big head start: the Tennessee Valley Authority, or TVA. TVA tells us that 30% of Chattanooga’s electrical power comes from the two hydroelectric dams in or near our great city. This fantastic renewable resource is a legacy we inherited from work done in the 1930s and 1940s.

But that’s just electrical power. What about energy for heating our homes? Energy to run commercial and industrial plants and offices in our area. And what about all those cars, trucks, trains and planes? Just how much energy is that?

Some people will decide that thinking about a problem this big just makes their brains hurt. Others will think it is foolish, or someone else, probably “in government” should be solving this problem. But we believe there are like-minded people who really care and are willing to join together and begin the process of solving this problem. And do it in a wonderful way.

So if you believe you are called to work on this project let’s get started and add up the Total Energy Budget for Chattanooga, and then figure out where the renewable energy could come from. And how much it is going to cost. And who is going to generate and distribute it, and is it going to be taxed? If so, who gets the money? And… you get the idea.
